These Three Carmakers Have Seen The Biggest Sales Jump In India
The month of March, in terms of Indian automotive sales, was very impressive. A total of 4,47,702 cars were sold in March 2026. Now, out of the total 14 major carmakers in India, there are three automakers for whom the month of March was exceptional. Now, if you want to know which automakers had the biggest jump in the total number of sales and growth last month, then read till the very end.

The French automaker Citroen, despite offering cars with decent value propositions, has not had a very successful sales journey till now in the country. However, there is a new ray of hope for the brand, as last month in March it dispatched 815 units in total. Now, to many, it may not seem like a big deal. But when we look at the sales figures from February, there has been a huge jump.
In March of last year, the company sold a total of 407 units. So, when compared on a Year-on-Year basis, the sales have jumped by 100.2 percent, which is very impressive. Unfortunately, on a Month-on-Month growth basis, Citroen has seen a decline of 14.2 percent. This is because in February it sold 950 units.

The most successful model in the current Citroen lineup is the C3 micro-SUV. In March, Citroen sold 648 units of the C3 compared to 120 units in March of last year. The sales jump on a Year-on-Year basis is a staggering 440 percent. Other cars in the Citroen lineup include the C3 Aircross (76 units), Basalt (53 units), eC3 (38 units), and lastly, the C5 Aircross (0 units).

Citroen is one of the most underrated brands in India. The main USP of Citroen cars is their suspension, which is considered one of the best for Indian roads. Unfortunately, due to the small service network, the company has not been able to grow in terms of sales in India.

The next company on the list which has seen a big jump in sales is another French automaker, and it is Renault. Last month in March, Renault dispatched a total of 5,046 units, which, in the same month last year, was 2,846 units. In terms of Year-on-Year growth, the company is up by 77.3 percent, which is very impressive.

As for the Month-on-Month basis, it has grown by 44.4 percent, which is still a high growth percentage. In February of this year, Renault sold 3,495 units. The leader in terms of sales for Renault has been the Triber MPV. A total of 2,011 units were sold in March. As the second highest-selling car, it is the newly launched Duster mid-size SUV.

In the month of February, 1,402 units of this SUV were sold. However, it has to be noted that none of these have been delivered to customers; instead, they have been delivered to dealerships across the country. Now, coming to the third automaker which has gained the most, it is none other than Nissan. The company last month in March sold a total of 4,408 units, which, when compared to the same month last year’s 2,499 units, is 76.4 percent more. As for the Month-on-Month basis, it has also been more impressive, as it sold 2,230 units in February this year.

Nissan presently has only two mass-market offerings in the country, which are the Magnite sub-compact SUV and the newly launched Gravite affordable 7-seater MPV. Last month, a total of 2,375 units of the Gravite were sold in India. Meanwhile, 2,033 units of the Magnite were also sold. In the coming months, Nissan’s sales will grow more, as it will be launching its mid-size SUV, the Tekton, in India.
