Russia enters the war! Putin offers to mediate between the US and Iran

New Delhi: The war that began on February 28th between the US, Israel, and Iran is currently in a delicate state. A two-week ceasefire has been established. However, a meeting held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, to make it sustainable was unsuccessful. For the first time since 1979, the US and Iran sat together at a table to resolve their differences, but nothing came of it. Amidst all this, Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to mediate between Iran and the US.

Russian President Putin spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. During the conversation, Putin clearly stated that Russia is ready to assist in efforts to establish peace in the region. According to information released by the Kremlin, Russia wants a negotiated resolution to the crisis and stability in the region.

On the other hand, Iran clearly lacks trust in the United States. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the US has so far failed to win Tehran’s confidence. He also indicated that despite recent peace talks, mistrust remains between the two countries, which could pose a major obstacle to any agreement.

This initiative by Russia is considered significant because it is positioning itself as a country capable of advancing dialogue between the two sides. Russia and Iran have good relations. Donald Trump recently offered to mediate in the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Putin and Trump met in Alaska regarding this matter. Amidst all this, Israel has also had to spend a significant amount of money on this war. Israel has stated that this war has increased its defense budget by $11.5 billion.
