Virat Kohli suffers an ankle injury in MI vs RCB match

Royal Challengers Bengaluru star batter Virat Kohli suffered an ankle injury and left the field during the Mumbai Indians’ run chase in the Indian Premier League. Former New Zealand player Simon Doull, who is one of the commentators in the ongoing 19th season of the tournament, spoke about Kohli’s fitness setback, saying that there was some concern with the player’s ankle.

Virat was seen sitting in the dressing room at the Wankhede Stadium. Earlier, he scored a fifty but was not at his aggressive best. The veteran missed a few deliveries and was seen struggling with timing.

He faced 38 balls and hit 5 boundaries and 1 six, with his runs coming at a strike rate of 131.57. The RCB camp would be worried as Kohli is the best performer in the last few years, and the defending champions need him in the remaining matches of the season.

Kohli has been playing an anchor’s role and has significantly improved his strike rate. He allows the other batters to take on the bowlers while keeping one end intact, which has worked in RCB’s favour. The right-handed batter is closing on the 9000-run mark in the IPL, and in all likelihood, he will achieve the milestone this season.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won two matches and lost one in the new edition, and they are one of the favourites to win the IPL trophy. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two franchises that have back-to-back trophies in the competition.
