Islamabad Show Flops: Vladimir Putin talked to President Masood Pajeshkian and offered mediation, Russia made an important move
New Delhi. According to AFP report, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday that Russia is ready to mediate peace efforts in the Middle East. This has been said at a time when tension is continuously increasing in the region and talks are going on between the West Asian country and America regarding ceasefire. The Russian leader had earlier stressed the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and called for resolving the conflict through political and diplomatic means rather than military action.

Putin has previously expressed concern over the ongoing violence and its wider regional implications, and has maintained contacts with a number of parties, including the Gulf countries, as part of broader efforts to defuse the situation. The initiative reflects Moscow’s effort to establish itself as a major diplomatic player amid the deepening crisis in the Middle East. Increasing hostilities in the region have raised concerns about regional stability and global energy security.
Russia is playing a big geopolitical game by playing the role of mediator in the Iran-Israel conflict, where Vladimir Putin is using this crisis as a strategic ploy to reduce US aid to Ukraine. This development reflects Russian efforts to change the global balance of power, of which the Middle East crisis has become a pawn. The increasing tension in the Middle East has trapped America in a difficult geopolitical trap, while Russia is pursuing its strategic interests under the guise of mediation. The conflict is deeply linked to growing Russia-Iran military cooperation and the Ukraine war, where Putin appears to be dictating the direction of the global game. Russia has offered to defuse Iran-Israel tensions, but behind the scenes it is part of a larger deal on Ukraine made conditional on a halt in US military aid. This shows that this regional conflict has now become a global strategic chessboard, in which Russia is making a key move.
