The luxury cars on which the customers are closed! Mercedes’ big decision; Now ‘these’ cars will not be seen on the road

  • Mercedes Benz took an important decision
  • The company discontinued the A-Class, EQA, EQB and EQE SUVs in India
  • Now what is the next strategy of the company?

Mercedes -Benz has made a major and significant overhaul of its car portfolio in India. The company has discontinued production of its four models A-Class sedan, EQA, EQB and EQE SUV. Also the company has removed these cars from its official website. This move indicates that the company is changing its strategic direction, now focusing on more ‘premium’ and top-quality vehicles. Let’s learn more about it.

In short, Mercedes’ focus has shifted from low-cost, ‘entry-level’ cars to high-end vehicles with cutting-edge technology. In line with this strategy, the company is gearing up to launch the new ‘CLA EV’ in the future; Its probable launch date is said to be April 24, 2026.

Entry-level prices went up due to the discontinuation of the A-Class

The Mercedes A-Class Limousine was previously the company’s most affordable car in India. Launched in March 2021, the car was priced between approximately ₹44.46 lakh and ₹45.92 lakh. However, with this model discontinued, customers looking to get into the Mercedes brand will now have to shell out significantly more.

Now the ‘GLA SUV’ is the company’s most affordable car, with prices starting at around 51.80 lakhs. This means that the ‘entry-level’ price for buying a Mercedes car has gone up considerably compared to before. This also shows that the company is now only targeting customers who are willing to spend more money in the ‘premium’ category.

The EQA, EQB and EQE SUVs were also discontinued

Mercedes has also made some changes to its lineup of electric vehicles. The ‘EQA’ which was earlier the company’s most affordable electric car and was priced at around Rs 66 lakh, has now been discontinued. Additionally, the ‘EQB’ three-row electric SUV has also been dropped from the range, priced between Rs 70.9 lakh and Rs 77.5 lakh. The company has also discontinued ‘EQE SUV’, a premium electric SUV, starting at around Rs 1.39 crore. The main objective behind discontinuing these models is to strengthen the premium appeal of the company’s electric vehicle portfolio and elevate its status.
