Six people die of electrocution in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: As many as six people were killed following electrocution in four separate places of Odisha including three from Denkanal district on Sunday.
In the first such incident, one Milan Mahalik, Laxmidhar Sahu and Sudhakar Sahu died after coming in contact with an 11KV live wire at Patala village under Balimi police station limits of Dhenkanal district.
The mishap took place while they were making arrangement for Danda Nacha in the village. It is alleged that five people were erecting tent for the programme with the use of steel bars. But unfortunately, one of the steel bars came in direct contact with the 11KV live wire that was passing through the area.
All five of them became critical after being electrocuted. Others rescued and rushed them to the Angul District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) for treatment. However, three of them (Milan, Laxmidhar and Sudhakar) died while two others are still undergoing medication.
A pall of gloom descended on the village and entire area following the tragic incident as everyone was eagerly waiting to witness the Danda Nacha.
Likewise, one Sushant Gouda of Dhunkapada village within the Polasara block in the Ganjam district died after getting electrocuted while working on an electric pole.
Similarly, 34-year-old man named Subash Bhoi of Harijana Sahi under Terundia village near Nimapara in Puri district died. He got the electric shock allegedly after stamping over a snapped live wire.
In Sambalpur district also a man died when he came across the live wire of a tulu pump while working at a brick kiln at Kharsali village under Redhakhol police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Babuli Munda.
