Ipl 2026 Delhi Capitals Batsman Nitish Rana Fined Heavily
M.A. on Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman Nitish Rana. A fine has been imposed for breaking the code of conduct during the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday (April 11).
The IPL said in a statement that Rana has been fined 25 percent of his match fee, as well as given one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the Code of Conduct for IPL players.
Rana was found guilty of breaching Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which covers the use of words that are generally considered or understood to be offensive, obscene, or profane (in any language) and which can be heard by the spectators or viewing public, whether through a stump microphone or otherwise.
This behavior may include, for example, becoming angry at one’s game or luck and cursing. Rana has also accepted his mistake and the punishment given by the match referee. Rana was not a part of this match. The incident took place in the 19th over when Rana had a lengthy argument with the fourth umpire for denying Tristan Stubbs’ request to change his glove in extreme heat. DC head coach Hemang Badani was also talking to the fourth umpire.
Soon after, on the third ball of the 19th over, Stubbs was out trying to hit Jamie Overton’s ball over mid-off. He went back and threw away his bat and gloves while going to the dressing room.
Talking about the match, thanks to Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 115 runs, Chennai Super Kings scored 212 runs while batting first. Jamie Over played an important role in taking 4 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs in bowling out Delhi Capitals for 189 runs and giving CSK their first win of the season by 23 runs. Sanju Samson was the player of the match.
