Women Reservation Amendment Bill: Whip issued for BJP MPs, all MPs should remain in Parliament from 16 to 18 April

New Delhi. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued strict instructions to all its MPs regarding the upcoming Special Parliamentary Session. The party has issued a three-line whip for all the members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha asking them to ensure mandatory presence in the House from 16 to 18 April.

Clear instructions have been given by the party that no MP or Union Minister will be given leave during this period. All members have been asked to be continuously present in the House and ensure active participation in the proceedings of Parliament. According to sources, this special Parliament session has been called to discuss the Women Reservation Amendment Bill. The government aims to accelerate the process of wide debate and further debate on this historic bill.

The letter issued by BJP states, ‘From Thursday to Saturday, 16 to 18 April 2026, a three-line whip is being issued to all BJP members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. All Union Ministers and Members are requested to remain present in the House during all the above three days. Attendance in the House is mandatory. No leave will be sanctioned. Members are requested to strictly follow the whip and ensure their uninterrupted presence in the House. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Political activity also intensifies

At the same time, the political atmosphere regarding this special session has also become heated. Opposition parties have demanded the government to first call an all-party meeting and give clear information on issues like delimitation. Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to call an all-party meeting to discuss the proposed constitutional amendments related to the issue of Women’s Reservation Bill and Delimitation. He alleged that the special parliamentary session has been called without taking the opposition into confidence, and warned that important details for a meaningful discussion are still not clear.
