Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday lent strong support to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act during a signature campaign at Delhi University, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing women’s representation in politics and governance.
The event, held at the Faculty of Arts campus, saw participation from students, faculty members, and members of the public. The signature drive aimed to raise awareness about the Act, which mandates 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
She described the legislation as a “historic step” toward ensuring gender equality in decision-making. She emphasized that meaningful and inclusive development cannot be achieved without adequate representation of women in legislative bodies. “When women participate in policy making, governance becomes more responsive and balanced,” she said.
