Rajat Patidar Provides Update on Virat Kohli’s Injury After 18-Run Win Against Mumbai Indians

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has provided a crucial update on Virat Kohli’s fitness, who has been sidelined from the field during the 2nd innings of the IPL 2026 clash between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli had an ankle injury during the game and did not take the field during the sunday’s clash where RCB secured a 18-run victory at Wankhede.

With concerns over Virat Kohli’s fitness emerged during the game, RCB captain Rajat Patidar offered a crucial update following the match. Despite not knowing the full extent, Patidar stated he believed the veteran batsman was okay ‘okay’.

According to reports, the discomfort began during the first innings while Kohli was at crease. He got medical attention receiving medical attention on his left leg during the 10th over, apppearing to have suffered a minor twist or niggle.

However, he completed his batting duties and did not take the field for defending the total. Broadcaster, including Ravi Shastri, suggested that Kohli had been sick before the toss, which may impacted his rhythm.

However, Virat Kohli made a stunning knock smashing fifty and a forging a 120 run partnership for the 1st wicket with Phil Salt.

Speaking in the post match presentations, Rajat Patidar said, “I don’t know yet, but I think he, I feel that he’s okay right now.”

Batting first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 240 runs in their 20 over innings after fifties from Phil Salt, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians restricted to 225 runs despite a brilliant knock from Sherfane Rutherford. Suyash Sharma did take two wickets in the same over which was the turning point in the game.

Phil Salt was named the Player of the Match. Speaking on his batting philosophy Salt said, “Some of these grounds aren’t the most bowler-friendly, so you’ve got to keep the mentality that you’re going to keep going at the opposition. And then not forget your assets as a player. It’s about being a match-winner, isn’t it? I know I can’t get runs every game, nobody can. But if I can be as impactful as possible, then I’m on the right path.”

Virat Kohli is currently in fifth position of the Orange Cap with 179 runs in four matches, with an average of 59.67 at a strike rate of 167.72. Rajat Patidar is in second with 195 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 214.28.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play their next game against Lucknow Super Giants on April 15 at M. Chinnaswamy StadiumBengaluru.
