Formula-1 is going to return once again in India. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave this information in an informal conversation with the media on Monday, April 13. Mansukh Mandaviya said that Formula 1 will return to India in 2027. At least 3 companies have shown interest in organizing Formula-1 at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The first race will be held at Buddha International Circuit. Let us tell you that if this happens, Formula 1 will be organized in India after 13 years.
Mansukh Mandaviya said this regarding Formula-1
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya elaborated on India’s position regarding hosting Formula 1 events, saying, “Given the global situation due to the Iran war, India is being seen as a safe and suitable venue for sporting events, including F1. We are planning to organize Moto GP before the return of F1. The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) is currently in talks with Formula One, We will play the role of mediator.”
Formula 1 reacted to Sports Minister’s claim
Whereas Formula 1 has responded to the claim of Indian Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya by saying that the chances of this happening in 2027 are very less, but India is an attractive market. We have many great fans in the country, but we are no closer to an agreement yet.”
“2027 is highly unlikely but India is a market of interest. We have many amazing fans in the country but we are not close to an agreement.”

Formula 1 was last organized in India 13 years ago
The Formula One Indian Grand Prix was held in India for the first time on 30 October 2011. This race was held at Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The winner of this first race was Germany’s Facem Racing driver Sebastian Vettel, who was a racer for the Red Bull Racing team. Formula One was organized in India for 3 consecutive years from 2011 to 2013 and Sebastian Vettel became the champion all three times. After 2013, this race was stopped due to tax and other administrative reasons.
