Ignoring the umpire’s warning was costly for Tim David, BCCI gave him a big punishment.
Delhi: So far in the 19th season of IPL, many players have been punished by BCCI for violating the rules. Now the name of RCB’s star finisher Tim David has also been added to this list. David has been punished for ignoring the warning of the on-field umpire against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, 12th. Their share has been cut by 25%.
Strong action taken against Tim David
In fact, during batting, he was repeatedly checking the ball and telling the umpire about the change in its shape. Tim wanted the ball to be changed, but the umpire did not listen to him. On-field umpire Virendra Sharma had warned him several times not to check the ball, because according to the rules he could not do so. According to the rules, only the fielding team and the umpire have the right to check the ball. Members of the batting team cannot do this.
That was utter disrespect towards the on-field umpires.
The umpire repeatedly asked for the ball, but Tim David remained adamant about checking it.
