Superstar Vijay Thalapathy’s film Jan Nayakan leaked, FEFS comes out in support of editors

Mumbai South Indian Film Editors Association President Gopi and Film Employees Federation of South India President RK Selvamani held a joint press conference at the FEFSI headquarters in Chennai. He denied the editors’ involvement in the alleged leak of the film Jana Nayakan on the internet. Amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged leak of Thalapathy Vijay starrer Jana Nayakan, Film Editors Association President Gopi has categorically denied editors’ involvement in any such activity. He said that editors would never do such a thing and clarified to the media today that his team has already conducted an internal investigation. According to him, so far six people have been arrested in this case and a report has also been submitted.

RK Selvamani said that the main accused behind the alleged leak will be arrested soon. The police are actively investigating this matter. In front of the media, Gopi also talked about the allegations being leveled against Pradeep, the editor of the film Jana Nayakan, and said that people should not make allegations against him without proof, as the investigation is still going on. FEFSI Union President Selvamani responded to Director Ameer’s comments. Amir had earlier accused editors and film crew members of being involved in the alleged leak. Selvamani said that Ameer should withdraw his allegations against the editors and crew. He said that with the rapidly increasing trend of digital platforms, such incidents may increase. Piracy is not a new thing and is a long standing problem in the film industry. Steps are being taken to create a system to stop such leaks and avoid similar incidents in future.

Earlier, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had also issued a statement. When a flurry of allegations were leveled on the board regarding the alleged leak of the film Jana Nayakan. The board said that reports that Tamil film Jana Nayakan has been leaked by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are completely baseless and false. Access to the content is password protected, the statement said. KDM remains entirely with the producer and filmmaker. The film cannot be accessed or viewed without a valid KDM. Thalapathy Vijay starrer Jana Nayakan came into limelight when some scenes from the film were reportedly leaked online. The issue was reacted by many film personalities including Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan who raised their voice against piracy.
