Why is the AC limit fixed in summer? Know why the temperature does not set below 16°C and above 30°C.
Why the cooling of AC remains limited even in hot summer, there are important reasons related to science and safety of the machine hidden behind it.
As soon as the summer season arrives, air conditioners and coolers become our biggest needs. When the outside temperature reaches 45 to 50 degrees Celsius, it often seems that even the AC is not able to provide sufficient cooling. In such a situation, people immediately say, “Make the AC cooler, but have you ever noticed that the AC cannot be set lower than 16°C or higher than 30°C?”
Actually, this limit is not limited only to the AC of your home, but this range is fixed in almost all air conditioners across the world. There are important technical and security reasons behind this.
Why is there no setting below 16°C?
There is an important part inside every AC which is called evaporator. This is where the coolness really happens. The coolant gas present in it cools the hot air and spreads coolness in the room.
If the temperature is set below 16°C, the evaporator becomes too cold and ice starts forming on it. The moisture present in the air can quickly freeze and block this area. This reduces the cooling of the AC and also increases the risk of the machine getting damaged.
To avoid this problem, companies keep the minimum temperature in AC only 16°C, so that the system continues to work safely and effectively.
Why is setting above 30°C not given?
The main function of AC is to cool the room, not to heat it. When you set the temperature above 30°C, the cooling effect of the AC almost disappears and the air starts feeling normal or slightly warm.
Even scientifically, a temperature around 30°C is considered relatively comfortable. When the temperature increases above this, heat starts to be felt clearly. In such a situation, there is no practical benefit of setting the AC higher than this. For this reason, companies keep the maximum temperature limit only up to 30°C, so that the user can get the right cooling experience and the performance of the machine also remains better.
