Wisden Awards 2026: Cricket in India has now reached a different level. There is no dearth of talented players in the country. Every year more than one player presents his claim to join Team India. In the past years, Team India has left its mark all over the world by performing amazingly in cricket. Along with this, the dominance of Indian players has also been seen in the Wisden Awards, which is a matter of pride. Indian players have won 7 of the 9 major Wisden awards.

Indian players dominated

Team India went on a tour of England in the year 2025 under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. Team India had performed brilliantly there. India captain Shubhman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj remained in the top 5 along with Nottinghamshire captain Haseeb Hameed. Shubhman Gill created a stir with the bat in that series and was the highest run scorer in the series. In the match played at Edgbaston, he played historic innings of 269 and 161 runs.

Rishabh Pant has left a unique mark as a wicket-keeper batsman in Test cricket, while Ravindra Jadeja has done wonders with both his batting and bowling. Mohammad Siraj’s performance in Test cricket last year was also explosive.

Deepti and Abhishek also received awards

Apart from this, Indian players also won awards. Deepti Sharma, who performed brilliantly for India in the Women’s ODI World Cup, received the award for Leading Women Cricketer, while Abhishek Sharma received the award for Leading T20 Cricketer. Australia’s Mitchell Starc was also awarded the Leading Men’s Cricketer of the Year award. The Wisden Trophy Award for his outstanding performance in a match was named after Shubman Gill. He had scored 430 runs in both the innings combined at Edgbaston.
