Donald Trump’s advice to Britain: ‘Sell oil and get rich’

US President Donald Trump has taken a dig at Britain’s energy policy, calling it ‘madness’. Trump wrote on Truth Social that Britain has huge reserves of oil and gas in the ‘North Sea’, but it is not using it. Referring to Aberdeen in Scotland, Trump said that Britain should start drilling. He opposed windmills and said that no more windmills should be installed. According to Trump, Norway is making profit by selling oil and Britain is sitting idle.

The world will gather in India: Big meeting of BRICS and Quad

The month of May is going to be very important diplomatically for India. India will host the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting, where representatives of Iran and UAE will face each other for the first time since the US-Israel attacks in 2026. Along with this, there will also be a meeting of foreign ministers of ‘QUAD’ countries—India, America, Japan and Australia—in the last week of May. There is news that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio may also visit India during this period.

Strict action by Trump government: Indian origin judge Rupal Patel dismissed

Taking a tough stance, the Trump administration in America has removed Indian-origin immigration judge Rupal Patel from her post. Rupal is among the six judges who have been dismissed together. It is alleged that he had stopped a high-profile deportation case. Rupal had ruled against the deportation of a student of Turkish origin, whose visa was canceled for writing on the Palestine issue. The Trump administration has so far removed more than 100 immigration judges and appointed 140 new judges of its choice.

South Africa sent its ‘troubleshooter’ to America

Amidst tense relations, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed senior leader Roelf Meyer as his new ambassador to America. The post was vacant in the US for almost a year as the former ambassador was fired in March 2025 following a dispute with the Trump administration. The 78-year-old mayor, along with Nelson Mandela, played a big role in ending apartheid. His appointment is being seen as an attempt to improve the deteriorated relations between America and South Africa.
