Christy Chung’s 12-year-younger husband says he accepts being left out of inheritance
The couple appeared on a marriage and family program on Mango TV on Tuesday, where they discussed finances and parenting.
Asked how he would react if Chung left all her inheritance to her three daughters, Zhang said the topic had never come up between them. He added that, given Chung’s personality, she likely would not frame things that way. Still, he said he would respect her decision, noting that he is capable of supporting himself.
Zhang also recalled a difficult period in his career when he felt discouraged. During that time, one of Chung’s daughters told him: “Dad, don’t worry. When I grow up, I’ll take care of you.”
He said he was deeply moved by the comment. To him, family is defined not only by blood but also by emotional connection. Although his stepdaughters are now older and busy with school and friendships, they continue to show concern for him when he is struggling. That support, he said, makes everything “worth it.”

On the show, Zhang, 44, and Chung, 56, also revealed they are considering having a child together with the help of medical technology. If that is not possible, they may adopt.
The couple married in 2016 after meeting on a reality dating show the previous year, marking Chung’s third marriage. She was married to a Belgian man in 1998 and later to Taiwanese musician Jon Yen in 2003. She and Yen separated in 2011 after having two daughters, who have taken Zhang’s surname.
Their relationship initially drew widespread gossip.
“People say I’m after my wife’s money, and she’s after my looks,” Zhang said. “Honestly, I do appreciate good looks too.”
Chung, for her part, brushed off public criticism with humor.
“People say I’m an older woman dating a younger man, like an old ox eating young grass,” she said. “I say yes, and the grass is very good.”
She added that she feels fulfilled for having chosen the right partner. Her mother also supports the relationship, recognizing Zhang’s genuine care for Chung’s children.
Born in Canada to a Chinese-Vietnamese father and a Vietnamese mother, Chung moved to Hong Kong in 1993 to compete in the Miss Chinese International Pageant. Despite not speaking Chinese at the time, she won the competition, launching her acting career.
She gained wider recognition with her role in “The Bride with White Hair 2” and went on to star alongside well-known actors such as Stephen Chow and Jet Li.
