Raid at the house of the police station incharge who lives in a bungalow worth Rs 2 crore
Bureau Prayagraj. Another officer of Bihar Police has been accused of corruption. The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has taken major action against Kishanganj Sadar Police Station Officer (SHO) Abhishek Kumar Ranjan. From 8:30 am on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, EOU teams knocked simultaneously at 5 different locations including Patna, Chhapra and Kishanganj. According to EOU, strong evidence has been found that Abhishek Ranjan has illegal assets amounting to about 118.66% more than his legal income.
Abhishek Kumar Ranjan, resident of Saran (Chhapra), was recruited as a sub-inspector in Bihar Police in the year 2009. In the year 2023, he was promoted and became Inspector. During his service period, he was posted in important districts like Muzaffarpur, Motihari and Patna. Investigation of EOU has revealed that his total legitimate income during this period was Rs 1 crore 47 lakh 17 thousand, while he acquired property worth more than Rs 2 crore 9 lakh. After deducting all the expenses, he was found to have illegal assets worth more than Rs 1.70 crore.
During the raid, a luxurious 4 storey (G+3) house spread over 2200 square feet was found in Ramakrishna Nagar, Patna, whose estimated value is more than Rs 2 crore. Apart from this, a house worth Rs 30 lakh in Prabhunath Nagar, Chapra and a two-storey house being built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh in ancestral village Paiga are also in the sights of EOU. Not only this, the boundary of 6 katha land has been done on Darjeeling Road in Siliguri, for which the promoter was given Rs 84 lakh in cash.
Abhishek Ranjan was not only an expert in accumulating wealth, but his lifestyle was also like that of a big industrialist. Investigation revealed that in January this year, he had gone on an air trip to Mumbai with his family and stayed in the country’s most expensive 5-star hotel ‘The Taj’ for 15 days. Expensive mobile phones and other luxury items were also found with them. A huge amount of money is also being spent on children’s education. Recently, he got his elder son admitted in DPS Siliguri, for which Rs 2.50 lakh was given only as admission fee.
EOU has received information that Abhishek Ranjan has deep connections with the land syndicate. Information about purchase of a flat and about 6-7 trucks on Sevak Road in Siliguri has also come to light. There is also talk of investment worth crores in Fatehpur Kanti of Muzaffarpur. It is being told that the total value of his benami properties could be more than Rs 20 crore. During his posting in Kishanganj, he is also facing serious allegations of illegal extortion by giving protection to mafias involved in sand, liquor and smuggling.
