50 cylinders burst in Lucknow, 280 slums burnt to ashes; 1,000 people homeless

A massive fire broke out in hundreds of slums in Vikas Nagar area of ​​Lucknow on Wednesday. More than 1,000 people became homeless in one fell swoop after a fire broke out in more than 280 slums located in a temporary settlement in Sector 11 here. The victims are migrant laborers from nearby districts and other states. Fortunately, there is no news of any casualty in this accident.

 

Lucknow Police said that the fire broke out in the slums at around 5:30 pm. Due to intense heat the fire started spreading rapidly. Amidst the fire, more than 50 gas cylinders kept in the slums started exploding. The compressor of the refrigerator and AC kept in it also burst.

Smoke was visible from several kilometers away

After the fire broke out, a thick plume of black smoke covered the sky. The smoke of the fire was visible from several kilometers away. District administration officials said that the slums were built illegally on Housing Development Council land.

CM Yogi gave instructions

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the incident and immediately issued instructions to the district administration and emergency services. He directed senior officers to immediately reach the spot, closely monitor the situation and ensure that relief and rescue operations are carried out on a war footing.

 

In this, the CM also stressed on evacuating the affected people as soon as possible, providing immediate medical help to the injured and providing necessary relief materials including food, shelter and necessary places. He also directed the officials to maintain constant coordination to bring the situation under control as soon as possible and minimize further damage.

20 tankers extinguished the fire

20 tankers were deployed to completely control the fire. Tankers brought the situation under control in about three hours. Teams of fire department, police, district administration along with NDRF and SDRF conducted a large-scale rescue operation.

Police officials evacuated about 20 nearby houses to prevent further loss of life and property. The incident also caused huge traffic jams on specific routes from Samta Mulak Crossing to Kukrail Bridge, the effect of which was seen for hours in Polytechnic Crossing, Munshipulia and Engineering College areas.

 

Senior officials including Director General (Fire) Sujit Pandey, Police Commissioner Amarendra Sengar and DM Visakh ji reached the spot to monitor the rescue operations and coordinate relief efforts.
