Once again, a spell of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms is expected. Weather alerts—warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning—have been issued for 13 states, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Based on reports from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), here is a detailed breakdown of the weather forecast for various regions.

Weather in Delhi
The Meteorological Department has predicted a rise in temperatures within the national capital, Delhi. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of cloudy skies prevailing over the city on April 16 and 17. No significant drop in temperature is expected during this period. For April 16—that is, today—the maximum temperature in the capital is projected to hover around 39 degrees Celsius.
Weather in Uttar Pradesh
The Meteorological Department has not issued any rain alerts for Uttar Pradesh for April 16. The likelihood of rising temperatures and increasing heat conditions will persist. The IMD forecasts that temperatures will rise—leading to hotter conditions—in several districts, including Gorakhpur, Deoria, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Ballia, Jaunpur, Basti, Mirzapur, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Bijnor.

Weather Outlook for Other Regions
While scorching sunshine is expected to prevail across the plains, the hilly regions are likely to experience rainfall. The IMD has forecast rain in Nainital, Rudraprayag, Almora, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Chamoli. Himachal Pradesh may also witness rainfall tomorrow.
The IMD has issued warnings for strong winds and rain in Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Lahaul and Spiti, Hamirpur, and Kullu. Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir is also likely to experience a spell of thunderstorms and rain. The possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has also been forecast for Muzaffarabad, Srinagar, Kishtwar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Udhampur, Poonch, Anantnag, and Pulwama.
Storm and Rain Warning Issued for These 13 States
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by storms and squalls in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya. Additionally, the IMD has indicated that spells of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely to occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.
