IPL 2026, RCB vs LSG: Defending Champions Royal Challengers Bangalore have won their fourth match in the current season. Responding to the target of 147 runs set by Lucknow Super Giants at Chinnaswamy Stadium on 15 April, RCB won by 5 wickets. Josh Hazlewood, who took 1 wicket in this match, was given the Player of the Match award. Whereas Rasikh Salam has taken maximum 4 wickets. Let us tell you why this happened?

Why did Josh Hazlewood become the player of the match?

Actually, after every match the jury decides who should be the player of the match. In this, former cricketers and experts are present doing commentary during the match. The panel decides through voting which player should receive the award. Generally it is given to the player of the winning team, but sometimes a member of the losing team also becomes the player of the match.

Now the question arises that how did Josh Hazlewood, who took 1 wicket for 20 runs, become the player of the match instead of Rasikh Salam, who took 4 wickets for 24 runs? After this, Ayush Badoni, who had scored 38 runs, was hunted, Mukul Chaudhary was looking lethal after scoring 39 runs. Rasikh put the last nail in the coffin of LSG’s innings by clean bowling him. In the end, he made Avesh Khan his victim and completed the haul of 4 wickets. Taking 4 wickets for 24 runs has proved to be his best performance. He has been playing IPL since 2019.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s one-sided victory

Along with this, if we talk about the match, it seems difficult to stop Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2026. RCB has secured the top position in the points table by defeating Lucknow Super Giants. Rajat Patidar had invited Lucknow to bat first after winning the toss at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Aiden Markram was out after scoring 12 runs, Mitchell Marsh could score only 40 runs in 32 balls. Whereas Nicholas Puran returned to the pavilion after scoring only 1 run despite playing 7 balls. In the end, Ayush Badoni and Mukul Chaudhary scored 38 and 39 runs respectively, somehow taking the combined score of LSG to 146 runs.

Chase master Virat Kohli was once again seen in his best form for RCB. He ensured the team’s victory by playing an inning of 49 runs in 34 balls. Rajat Patidar provided momentum in the middle overs by scoring 27 runs in 13 balls, the captain also got support from Jitesh Sharma. The wicketkeeper batsman made the match one-sided by scoring 23 runs in 9 balls. In the end, big hitters Romario Shepherd and Tim David scored 14 runs each to help RCB cross the threshold of victory.
