The world will taste the ‘taste’ of UP: ‘One district-one dish’ scheme got support from banks; Yogi government’s ‘local to global’ plan

One District-One Delicacy Scheme: After the global success of Uttar Pradesh’s ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme, now Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken the ‘One District-One Cuisine’ scheme on mission mode to give international recognition to the traditional flavors of the state. Now the banking sector has also come into the field to give new impetus to this scheme, which will not only increase the business of traditional dishes but will also open new doors of employment for millions of people.

Role of banks, not only loan but also management will be taught

In line with the intention of the Chief Minister, the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) has prepared a comprehensive action plan to make the ODOC scheme successful.

Easy and cheap loans will be provided

Banks will provide cheap and easy loans to entrepreneurs joining this business on priority basis. During this period, banks will not only provide capital but will also teach financial management skills to those starting a new business. This will include training from maintaining accounts to investing profits.

Confluence of employment and experts

In the SLBC meeting held recently, CM Yogi had made it clear that banks should not be limited to giving only loans. He has expected that banks should cooperate in adding subject experts and trainers for this scheme. The main objective of the government is to create a new wave of self-employment in rural and urban areas through this scheme.

‘Clusters’ of taste and global branding

Every district of Uttar Pradesh has its own distinct identity whether it is Peda of Mathura, Petha of Agra or Kebab of Awadh. The government will now provide direct support in branding, packaging and marketing of these special dishes.

Cluster Development: Special clusters will be developed in the districts where these delicacies will be prepared and packed to high standards.

Packaging Revolution: The traditional taste will be presented with modern packaging to make it export quality.

Marketing Support: The target has been set to take these dishes from ‘local to global’ through government fairs, exhibitions and e-commerce platforms.

Towards ‘Healthy and Prosperous’ Uttar Pradesh

Through the ODOC scheme, the Yogi government is not only reviving the dying traditional cooking art but is also giving it the form of an organized industry. The association of banks will provide the financial backbone to this scheme, due to lack of which small artisans were not able to take their art to the big market.
