IPL 2026: CSK expressed objection to the song ‘Dosa-Idli’ during the match against RCB, wrote a letter to BCCI, saying – ‘We were made fun of’

IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has written a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) objecting to the song played and some comments made at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during a match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This incident happened on April 5 during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

CSK management did not like the song ‘Dosa, Idli, Sambar, Chutney’, which was composed by Appu. This song is often used in memes related to South Indian stereotypes. The franchise felt that this and some of the accompanying comments were not appropriate for the atmosphere of the match.

Kasi Viswanathan’s statement

CSK Managing Director Kasi Vishwanathan said that usually in away matches, DJs only support the home team, but the situation was different at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He told, “Some comments were made against our players.

In view of this, we have requested BCCI to investigate it.” An IPL official confirmed that the complaint has been received and it will be considered in the Governing Council meeting.

This incident had happened before also

This controversy is not new. In the last IPL season, RCB wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma had mentioned this song before the match in Chennai. Then CSK’s DJ played this song at Chepauk Stadium after Jitesh’s dismissal, which brought reactions from the fans. After this, CSK management had issued strict guidelines for the DJs not to make any comment on the opposing players or fans.

Vishwanathan said, “After that incident there was no repeat of such incident. DJs should not make any comments on opposing players. We are fortunate to have the support of our fans.”

increasing intensity of rivalry

Apart from the song, CSK is also unhappy with some other comments made on the public address system, although their exact details have not been made public. The franchise believes that the DJ should create a positive atmosphere in the match and not humiliate the opposing team.

The case adds a new chapter to the growing rivalry between CSK and RCB, which has seen emotions run high both on and off the field over the past few seasons.
