Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior criticized for telling Jude Bellingham to ‘shut up’ during Champions League exit

The second-leg loss at the Allianz Arena resulted in a 4-6 aggregate defeat, knocking the Spanish giant out of the Champions League.

The incident started in the 82nd minute following a wasted Real Madrid counter-attack. Bellingham was visibly frustrated after Vinicius opted for an individual run that ended in a missed opportunity, rather than passing to the English midfielder who was in a more favorable position.

As the ball went out of bounds, Movistar cameras captured a moment from the Brazilian forward, who yelled at Bellingham.

“What do you want? What do you want? Shut up!” Vini said.

The footage quickly went viral, drawing heavy criticism from fans who viewed the outburst as a sign of ego and a threat to team unity.

Many Real Madrid fans were on Bellingham’s side, arguing that the English midfielder was not angry because his teammates did not pass, but because Vinicius’s play wasted both passing and shooting opportunities.

However, many others argued that passing wasn’t the right option in that counter-attack.

Under the comment section of Spanish newspaper Marksupporters expressed outrage, with some labeling Vinicius a “divisive factor” within the squad.

“As long as Vinicius is at Real Madrid, things will never go smoothly. In the Munich game, he was the worst player in the team,” a fan wrote.

According to statistics from UEFA, Bellingham made four passes to Vinicius, while the Brazilian striker failed to return a single pass to Bellingham. Despite having an assist for Mbappe, Vinicius was still given a 6.6 rating by Sofascore for his performance.

While 19-year-old Arda Guler shone with a brilliant first-half brace, both Vinicius and Bellingham could not find the net.

The match took a final disastrous turn when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off for a second yellow card, allowing Bayern to capitalize on the advantage with late goals from Luis Diaz and Michael Olise.

The elimination marks only the second time in over a decade that Real Madrid have failed to progress past the quarterfinal stage.

The defeat leaves the club facing potentially another trophy-less season, as they currently trail Barcelona by nine points in La Liga and have already been eliminated from the Copa del Rey.
