Now India will become mobile hub, government is bringing new scheme, big opportunity for employment and earning.
Mobile Export India: The government is going to take a big step regarding the mobile industry in the country. The present government is working rapidly towards making India the mobile manufacturing hub of the world. In this context, preparations are now being made to introduce a second PLI (Production-Linked Incentive) scheme to promote mobile manufacturing.
According to sources, the government can implement this new scheme by May, the main objective of which is to increase the export of mobile phones from India. The budget of this scheme is said to be around 5 billion dollars (about Rs 47,000 crore).
What is PLI scheme and why is it important?
Actually, the PLI scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing (LSEM) was started in the year 2020. Its objective was to promote domestic production of mobile phones in the country. At that time the budget of this scheme was kept at around Rs 40,995 crore (about 5.7 billion dollars). This scheme is commonly known as Mobile PLI Scheme, which propelled India rapidly in mobile production.
New PLI 2.0 may be launched in May
According to sources, “work is going on PLI 2.0 for mobile phones”, whose focus will be especially on increasing exports. It is expected that it will be implemented by May. Another source said that the Ministry of Electronics and IT is discussing this scheme with the Finance Minister. After this it will be presented to the Cabinet for approval. The government’s aim is clear “to double the export of mobile phones from India.”
Record increase in exports
According to official data, in the year 2025, India exported smartphones worth Rs 2.62 lakh crore (about $ 28 billion). Companies like Apple had a big contribution in this success. By February 2026, the total exports under this scheme have crossed Rs 6.2 lakh crore, which is 27% more than the set target of Rs 4.87 lakh crore.

Slight decrease in employment, but hope remains
However, 1.85 lakh people got employment through this scheme, which is about 8% less than the government’s target of 2 lakh. But with the arrival of the new PLI 2.0 scheme, new employment opportunities are expected to be created.
What is the benefit for the middle class?
With the implementation of this scheme, manufacturing will increase in the country, which will increase jobs and the prices of mobile phones can also become stable. This means that this can prove to be a big economic opportunity for the middle class.
