2 Hours 5 Minutes Toaster: Strong or dull story? Know IMDb Score
New Delhi. Toaster, released on Netflix, is definitely included in the popular films of this week, but it does not seem to live up to the expectations of the audience. Despite strong actors like Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, the story and presentation of the film seems weak at many places. This 2 hours 5 minutes long dark comedy seems interesting in the beginning, but gradually its pace slows down, due to which the audience starts losing engagement.
Story strong, but presentation lacking
The story of the film revolves around Ramakant (Rajkummar Rao), who is an extremely miser person. This habit of his gets him trapped in a situation where a simple toaster brings a storm in his life. The plot had full potential for suspense and dark humor, but director Vivek Das Choudhary fails to present it effectively. Many scenes seem to drag on unnecessarily, which makes the film boring.
Acting became the biggest strength of the film
While the story becomes weak, the acting of the actors seems to be supporting the film. Rajkummar Rao fits his character well and his comic timing is good. Sanya Malhotra also looks comfortable in her role. Especially the character of Archana Puran Singh brings life to the film and her presence brings laughter in many scenes. At the same time, Farah Khan’s small but effective presence also makes the film a little entertaining.
Dark comedy’s effect fades
Dark comedy is a genre that requires balance—the right mix of humor and suspense. But ‘Toaster’ fails to maintain this balance. The second half of the film is especially weak and fails to keep the audience engaged.
Audience opinion: Mixed reaction on social media
Mixed reactions are being seen about the film on online platforms and forums like Reddit. Many users called it boring, while some praised the dialogues and acting. Overall, this film fits into the ‘one time watch’ category.
IMDb rating also disappointed
If we talk about rating, this film has got a rating of only 5.3/10 on IMDb, which clearly shows its weak grip.
