PM Modi-Trump Call: 40-minute important conversation between PM Modi and Trump, agreement on Iran crisis
Washington: US President Donald Trump on Friday said he had a “very good conversation” with his “friend” Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to the phone conversation between the two leaders on Tuesday, Trump told reporters here, “I had a very good conversation with him.” He is my friend and is doing very good work. We had a very good conversation.”
Trump had called Modi on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties and share views on the situation in West Asia, where the US and Israel have waged war against Iran. America and Iran had announced a two-week ceasefire on April 7. Gas prices have increased due to this war.
Actually, Iran has closed the sea routes in the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is an important narrow passage for global oil supply. During talks between Trump and Modi on Tuesday, both the leaders stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.
According to US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore, the 40-minute conversation ended with Trump telling Modi, “We all love you.” The phone conversation on Tuesday was the second conversation between the two leaders since the US-Israeli war against Iran began on February 28.
