Horrific road accident in Gujarat, 7 devotees died due to truck collision

Gujarat News: Many devotees lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Surendranagar district of Gujarat. A speeding truck hit pedestrians on the Lakhtar-Viramgam National Highway, killing 7 people on the spot, while 4 others were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, where their treatment is ongoing.

Men and women included among the dead

According to the police, the incident took place around 1:30 am when a group of devotees were walking on foot from Rajkot towards Bahucharaji Mata temple. All the people were walking on the roadside when a speeding truck came from behind and hit them. Six devotees and another person, who was present on the roadside, died in this accident. Along with men, women are also included among the dead. The accident is said to have happened 4 days ago on Monday.

Devotees were on religious journey

The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident, however, the police later arrested him. According to eyewitnesses, the devotees were on a religious pilgrimage and the accident occurred on the way.

PM Modi expressed grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over this accident. He issued a condolence message on social media platform Police have started investigating the matter and the reasons for the accident are being ascertained.
