German vlogger reacts after Kohli’s brief ‘like’ goes viral
A brief tap on a social media app has turned into a full internet moment, with Virat Kohli once again at the centre of an online frenzy.
On Friday, fans noticed that the 37-year-old cricketer had liked, and then quickly unliked, an Instagram post by a German vlogger known as LizLaz.
Within hours, screenshots spread, memes followed, and comparisons were drawn to his earlier 2025 “likegate” involving Avneet Kaur.
Unlike in the past, the right-handed batsmen didn’t issue any clarification but the woman has opened up about this unexpected situation and the attention she grabbed after this episode.

“It was crazy because I woke up and then I was all over the news,” she said. “I don’t even know when he liked the picture, I learnt through the news.”
She says messages flooded her inbox as people shared links and reactions. What added to the buzz was an older clip in which she had already described herself as a Kohli fan.
Her connection to cricket, she explains, began during a long visit to India last year. Originally planning to stay two weeks, she ended up travelling across cities including Bangalore, Goa and Mumbai.
“It was obviously the IPL last year, so I started watching with my Bangalorean friends… It was contagious,” she said, adding that she became a supporter of Royal Challengers Bangalore. “He’s just so good.”

When asked about Kohli later removing the like, her response was unexpected.
“No, I felt a bit sorry for him actually!, I was so happy that he liked it, but then him unliking it, I felt a bit bad for him because I don’t even know how it became such a big story. How did people notice, how did they make it news… that was probably not his intention behind it, but still I am grateful for it and I appreciate the support from him.”
The sudden attention is surprising for LizLaz, as are the work opportunities coming her way after the virality.
“There have been so many queries. But I am taking my time. I am passionate about music and vlogging. And if I get music opportunities in India, why not? Maybe I will visit again soon. I wish I was there for the IPL this time,” She added.
In 2025, a similar situation unfolded when the cricketer’s account reportedly liked a photo of actor and influencer Avneet Kaur, triggering widespread discussion.
At the time, Kohli had issued a clarification and blamed the Instagram algorithm for that like.
