Amit Shah got angry on the failure of Women’s Reservation Bill, said – Betrayal of 70 crore women, then what kind of celebration is the opposition?
digital desk- A big political development has come to light regarding women’s reservation in Parliament. The 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill related to women’s reservation, which was under discussion for a long time, could not be passed in the Lok Sabha. After the failure of this bill, the opposition parties are presenting it as their big victory. There is strong resentment regarding this in the ruling party. Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement has also come out on this entire incident. In which he has accused the opposition of “cheating” women. Amit Shah said in his social media post. “How can one celebrate victory after betraying half the country’s population, 70 crore women, and losing their trust?” He called the opposition’s celebration an insult to women. And said that this is a mockery of the struggle of all those women. Who have been waiting for their rights for decades. He also raised the question that how many times will Congress and its allies betray women.
Many political parties including Congress, TMC, SP were targeted
The Home Minister said in another post while targeting the opposition parties Congress, TMC, DMK and Samajwadi Party. That these parties did not allow the “Nari Shakti Vandan Act” to be passed. He said that rejecting this historic bill giving 33 percent reservation to women. And celebrating it is not condemnable. But it is also unimaginable. Shah said in a warning tone. That “this insult to women power will go far”. And the opposition will get its answer in the coming elections. In fact, on Friday, April 17, there was a detailed discussion on this important bill in the Lok Sabha for about 21 hours. After this when voting took place. So a total of 528 MPs cast their votes. 298 votes were cast in favor of the bill. Whereas 230 votes were cast in opposition.
The bill could not touch the majority mark
However, to pass a Constitution Amendment Bill, a two-thirds majority of the members present and voting in the House is required. According to this calculation, 352 votes were required. But the government could not achieve this figure. And the bill fell by 54 votes. This bill had a provision to give 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. Besides, a proposal to increase the total number of seats in Parliament from 543 to 850 was also included in it. This was considered a historic step towards increasing women’s political participation. At the same time, the opposition says that the government failed to present this bill properly and create a broad consensus. Opposition parties called it a strategic victory. That they are in favor of women’s rights. But the government’s method and timing were not right.
