600 crores to security, investigation and anti-terrorism units in UP, government’s focus on everything from modern policing to law and order reform.
Lucknow, Read: The state government has taken a big step towards strengthening the police department for the financial year 2026-27. The Home Department has given an amount of about Rs 600 crore to the Director General of Police. This investment will directly strengthen the safety and confidence of the general public.
This budget will be spent on the operations, salaries and technical strengthening of various units of the police like Special Task Force (STF), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Security Branch, Special Research Team and India Reserve Corps. According to the government orders, the highest amount of about Rs 181 crore has been given to the security branch, while Rs 124 crore has been given to STF and Rs 110 crore has been given for the formation of India Reserve Corps. Apart from this, about Rs 88 crore has been allocated to ATS, Rs 69 crore to Special Police Operation Team and special research and investigation units have also been allocated budget under different heads.
The government has clarified that this amount will not be for direct expenditure, but can be used only as per financial rules and approvals. Besides, strict instructions have also been issued for transparency, economy and avoidance of any kind of irregularity in expenditure.
Focus on security and investigation
It is clear from these allocations that the government’s focus is on further strengthening law and order. In particular, a strategy has been adopted to make the investigation of organized crime, terrorism and complex cases faster and more effective by increasing the budget of STF, ATS and research units.
Steps towards modern policing
The budget given to Research and Statistics Unit, Fingerprint Bureau and Special Operation Team will increase the use of technology and scientific methods in policing. This will not only improve the quality of investigation of crimes, but will also provide better and faster security services to the general public.
