In a significant step towards strengthening India’s defense capabilities, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has won a three-year lifecycle support contract for the Prithvi-II missile system. This agreement is aimed at ensuring the continued operational capability of the missile, so that it remains an important part of India’s strategic strength.
The contract will cover maintenance, regular technical checks and necessary upgrades of the Prithvi-II missile system. Its main objective is to ensure that the platform remains reliable and available throughout its service life. This will ensure continuity in the efficiency and security of the missile system.
Along with this, DRDO is also actively working on the development of next generation missile technologies. The objective of these efforts is to further strengthen India’s defense capability, so that systems equipped with state-of-the-art technologies can be developed to meet future challenges.
The organization is particularly focusing on improving accuracy, reliability and overall performance. In this direction, improvements are being made in the guidance system, propulsion system and accuracy of warhead delivery. These upgrades will not only enhance the capability of the existing Prithvi-II missile, but will also lay the foundation for the development of future advanced systems.
Experts believe that this dual strategy of maintaining existing systems and investing in new technologies will further strengthen India’s defense preparedness. This step can be helpful in giving the country a strategic edge in the changing global security scenario.
