Mukesh Khanna was adamant on Shaktiman, clearly refused Ranveer Singh and said that he will find a new hero from the country himself.
New Delhi . The discussion about Indian Television’s most popular superhero show Shaktiman has once again intensified and the reason for this is its original artist Mukesh Khanna, whose stance still seems to be as strict as before. News of the show’s reboot has been coming out for a long time and there was speculation about Ranveer Singh playing the lead role in it, but Mukesh Khanna has once again made it clear that he will not accept Ranveer as Shaktimaan.
During a recent conversation, Mukesh Khanna praised Ranveer Singh’s talent but also made it clear that playing the character of Shaktimaan is not just a matter of acting. He said that Ranveer is a brilliant actor who has tremendous energy and can play different types of characters but Shaktimaan requires a special personality and image which not everyone has.
Mukesh Khanna also said during this time that he does not want to cast any big star or actor with an already established image for this role. According to him, Shaktimaan is a character who needs a new face with a clean and inspirational image so that the audience can accept him in that form. He even said that he will hold auditions across the country to find a new face who can do justice to the character.
During the conversation, he also took a dig at Akshay Kumar’s look in the film Prithviraj and said that to play a historical and iconic character, costume alone is not enough but the personality of that character should also be visible. Sharing his experiences, he said that when he played historical characters, it took a long time to prepare and he used to completely get into the character.
Mukesh Khanna also admitted that due to his tough stance he may have to suffer financial loss as big production companies are showing interest in the project. Sony Pictures is said to be excited about this project but despite this Mukesh is firm on his decision.
He also revealed that Aditya Chopra had also earlier shown interest in taking the rights of Shaktimaan but he flatly refused. He said that he did not want to see this character in any form which would deviate from its basic spirit.
Amidst all this controversy, it is clear that the reboot of Shaktimaan is still surrounded by uncertainties. While on one hand the audience is excited to see their favorite superhero in a new avatar, on the other hand Mukesh Khanna’s conditions seem to be stopping the project from moving forward. In the coming time, it will be interesting to see whether Shaktimaan gets a new face or this project continues to remain embroiled in controversies.
