The department is continuously taking action to protect the rights of workers and maintain law and order in industrial areas. In this series, on Saturday, the Labor Department took major action and issued notices to 43 contractors, while in cases of serious violations, the licenses of 10 contractors were cancelled.
According to Additional Labor Commissioner Rakesh Dwivedi, many cases of violation of labor laws were revealed during inspection in various establishments. Based on the notices issued earlier, action has been taken against those contractors who did not make improvements. Besides, a letter has also been sent to the Labor Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh to blacklist these 10 contractors.
What warning did the Labor Department give?
The Labor Department has made it clear that similar strict action will continue in the future to maintain industrial peace in the district and ensure the rights of workers. The department has warned all industrial units and contractors to follow labor laws, otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
Medical camps will be organized for workers in industrial areas
- The district administration has taken a big decision regarding the health of the workers. District Magistrate Medha Rupam held an important meeting with representatives of the health department and private hospitals and prepared a comprehensive plan to provide better health services to the workers. It was decided in the meeting that regular medical camps would be organized in the industrial areas, construction sites and labor colonies of the district. Through these camps, workers and their families will be provided primary health services, testing and treatment facilities.
- The District Magistrate directed the officials to start the arrangement of mobile medical van and mini OPD, so that the workers living in remote areas can also get timely treatment. Along with this, private hospitals have been instructed to organize regular health camps through CSR funds.
- In the meeting, it was said that special attention should be paid to the health of women workers. Along with eye examination, breast cancer and cervical cancer screening will also be conducted in the medical camps. Apart from this, arrangements for distribution of spectacles and treatment of cataract to the needy workers will also be ensured.
- The district administration also clarified that the benefits of these camps will not be limited only to the workers, but their family members will also get the benefit of health services.
- The District Magistrate has instructed all private hospitals to prepare micro plans and appoint nodal officers, so that better coordination of health services can be ensured. Besides, it has been asked to ensure adequate availability of doctors, medicines and equipment in the district hospital, CHC and PHC. Apart from this, preparations are also being made to connect more hospitals with the Ayushman Bharat scheme, so that workers can get free and affordable health services.
- The district administration has also said to prepare further strategy by taking suggestions from experts and hospitals to further strengthen the health services.
