Why is Hormuz important?
gulf of hormuz An extremely narrow but strategically important sea route, which connects the Persian Gulf to the open sea and global markets. This is the route through which the oil producing countries of the Gulf region transport their crude oil to different parts of the world. About one-fifth of the world’s oil trade passes through this route.
