India-Nepal trade will get new momentum, work on Dharchula Friendship Bridge in final phase, will be ready in May

Pithoragarh. The construction of India-Nepal Friendship Bridge has now reached the final stage and the remaining work is likely to be completed by the month of May. District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgai today took stock of this important international project by conducting a surprise inspection at Charchhum in Dharchula area. During the inspection, the District Magistrate thoroughly reviewed the security arrangements, traffic situation and other arrangements of the bridge.

He instructed the officials that the security arrangements on this bridge connected to the international border should be completely strengthened and special care should be taken of the facilities of the common citizens. While giving instructions to strengthen the lighting system and monitoring system, the District Magistrate said that being a border area, it is necessary to maintain high vigilance here at all times.

He interacted with the security personnel and took information about their functioning and also gave instructions to ensure availability of necessary resources. DM Bhatgani said that this bridge, being built at a cost of Rs 32.98 crore, is almost ready. The work on the approach road towards Nepal is also in the final stage and all the remaining work will be completed by May.

After the completion of the bridge, check posts of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Land Custom Station will be established here. Discussions were also held with officials in this regard. The District Magistrate said that this bridge will play an important role in the development of the border area along with giving new impetus to the traffic and trade between India and Nepal.
