‘War Against Drugs’ campaign is paying off, the dream of ‘Drug Free Punjab’ will soon be fulfilled: Baltej Pannu

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State Media Incharge Baltej Pannu said that the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is yielding good results. He said that the kind of success being achieved with the active cooperation of the people of Punjab has proved that Punjab is moving towards becoming completely drug-free very soon. This coordination between the government and the public has broken the back of drug smugglers.

Sharing the statistics of the ongoing war against drugs, Baltej Pannu said that the Punjab Police has shown promptness and registered a total of 41,850 FIRs so far. By taking action in these cases, about 60,000 drug smugglers have been arrested and sent behind the bars. The recovery figures made by the police show how deeply this campaign is working. So far, the police have destroyed a big drug network by recovering 2569 kg heroin, 0.37 kg smack, 748 kg opium, 35,058 kg bhukki, 898 kg ganja and 4599 kg cocaine.

Baltej Pannu, especially praising the public participation at the grassroots level, said that the Village Defense Committees (VDCs) formed in the villages are getting full support of the people. He said that most of the information is reaching the police on the special mobile app created for this campaign, whose success rate is more than 80 percent.

Pannu clarified that the large number of FIRs being registered today and recovery being made is possible mainly because of the correct information given by the people and their help. This is a decisive victory in the direction of ‘Rangla Punjab’.
