Iran reopens airspace after 50 days, flights resume in eastern Iran

Desk: Iran has partially reopened its airspace. The country’s Civil Aviation Authority stated that international flights are now permitted to fly over eastern Iran. Some airports were also reopened as of 7 a.m. However, even three hours later, flight tracking websites still showed no major international flights over Iran. Many airlines are still taking longer routes to avoid Iranian airspace due to security concerns.

Iran says it will gradually resume flights to airports across the country. Meanwhile, the UK has called for normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper stated that despite the ceasefire, the situation on this vital sea route has not yet returned to normal. She added that a full resumption of shipping through this route is crucial for the global economy.
