‘It was an attack on a woman’s self-respect’, PM Modi said in his address to the nation.
Tezzbuzz Desk- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his recent address to the nation, launched a scathing attack on the opposition regarding respect for women and the developments in Parliament. He said that a woman can forget everything, but never forgets her insult. According to her, the behavior of the opposition in Parliament did not just show political opposition but also hurt the self-respect of women.
The Prime Minister alleged that the attitude of the opposition parties was disappointing on the issue of women’s reservation. He said that what happened in Parliament was not just a protest, but rather weakened the efforts of women empowerment. The pain of this incident will remain in the mind of every woman of the country.
In his address, the Prime Minister also said that when women see these leaders in their areas, they will remember who had opposed the efforts to advance women’s reservation. He accused the opposition of wasting an important opportunity related to women’s rights.
Prime Minister Modi apologized to the women of the country and said that despite the efforts of the government, the amendment related to “Nari Shakti Vandan” could not be passed. Describing it as unfortunate, he said that this step was not brought to take away rights from anyone, but with the aim of giving equal opportunities to all.
He also said that the proposal was an important step towards ensuring long-pending women’s rights, the benefits of which were to be borne by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. The Prime Minister stressed that today’s women are aware and keep an eye on every activity happening in the country.
Taking aim at opposition parties—such as the Indian National Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam—he said that these parties not only opposed women’s reservation but also disrespected the spirit of the makers of the Constitution.
At the end of his address, the Prime Minister said that “Nari Shakti Vandan” was the need of the hour and it was an effort to equally increase the participation and power of all the states of the country. He accused the opposition of wasting an important opportunity for the country by blocking this initiative in Parliament.
