Why doesn’t Mukesh Khanna want to give the role of Shaktimaan to Ranveer Singh?
Mukesh Khanna: Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna is known for his outspoken views. He is often in the news for his views on the film industry and various social issues. Recently the actor expressed his opinion on the reboot of the superhero film ‘Shaktimaan’. He gave his reasons for not making Ranveer Singh a part of this project. However, Mukesh Khanna also praised Ranveer on this occasion.
What did Mukesh Khanna say on Dhurandhar?
In a conversation with Zoom, Mukesh Khanna praised Ranveer Singh and said, ‘Look, my objection is that of course he is a great actor and he has immense energy. He can play roles like Dhurandhar, Gully Boy or Khilji very well. But playing the character of Shaktimaan requires more than just acting skills. He further said, ‘For Shaktimaan, just one actor is not enough, but a face is needed which matches the character. For example, when ‘Prithviraj Chauhan’ is standing in front of you, you should be convinced that he is indeed Prithviraj Chauhan, which Akshay Kumar could not show in the film. He was wearing a fake moustache.
Mukesh Khanna’s financial loss
Mukesh Khanna revealed that his insistence on this matter is hurting him financially. The actor explained, ‘After all, it is I who has to bear the loss.’ I am turning down crores of rupees because Sony is ready to pay me the same amount. Still, I told him, ‘Just wait, I don’t want this artist.’ They are looking for a ‘star’, whereas I don’t need any ‘star’. Mukesh Khanna further said, ‘If I am allowed, I will hold auditions across the country and select the person to play Shaktimaan. This will give us a young man who is handsome, polite and good natured. In my opinion, any actor who already has an image cannot become Shaktimaan. It is noteworthy that Ranveer Singh is currently enjoying the success of Dhurandhar 2. Breaking all box office records, the film has become the highest-grossing Hindi film of this year. Globally, the film has crossed the Rs 1700 crore mark.
