Big action on harassment allegations: Paralympic coach Naval Singh removed from post

New Delhi. The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) has removed Dronacharya Award winning coach Naval Singh from his post following serious allegations. This decision was confirmed by PCI President Devendra Jhajharia on Sunday.

The action came after two-time Paralympic medalist Sumit Antil accused coach Naval Singh of mental harassment and use of abusive language. Describing the matter as serious, Sumit also lodged a formal complaint with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Sumit Antil got the support of many top players of the country on this issue. Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra also openly supported him. The complaint letter, signed by several athletes, alleged that the coach repeatedly used abusive language and put mental pressure on the players.

It was told that this written complaint was submitted to SAI on April 10. According to Sumit Antil, he had earlier raised this issue with the authorities, where efforts were also made to reach a compromise between the two parties. However, he refused any compromise and demanded strict action in the matter.

Naval Singh was recently honored with the Dronacharya Award and has played an important role in training Indian javelin throwers. But in view of the continuous complaints and increasing controversy, the PCI Board decided to remove him from the post with immediate effect.

This incident has sparked a new debate in the Indian sports world regarding the relationship between coaches and players. Experts believe that ensuring the mental health and safe environment of players should be the primary responsibility of sports organizations.
