8th Pay Commission will bring new salary revolution, proposal to change pay scale

New Delhi. Expectations among central employees regarding the 8th Pay Commission are continuously increasing. The new memorandum given by the employee organizations (NC-JCM) has further strengthened the possibility of major changes in the salary structure. If this proposal is accepted, then there may be a major change in the salary and promotion system of millions of employees of the country.

Big simplification proposal in salary structure

According to the proposal, the 18 pay-level systems running under the existing 7th Pay Commission can be simplified to a great extent. It has been suggested to reduce it to only 7 major pay scales. It aims to make the pay structure more transparent and easier to understand.

Promotion system will become easier

In the present system, the promotion process is considered complicated due to different pay levels. After the proposed change, it is being said that the career growth of the employees will be made more simple and clear. This can reduce the problem of getting stuck at the same level for a long time.

Proposal to merge pay levels

The memorandum suggests merging pay levels into groups:

Talk of creating a new scale by combining pay levels 2 and 3

Proposal to combine pay levels 4 and 5

Plan to create larger grades by including higher pay levels (6 to 10)

With this, an attempt is being made to simplify and integrate the entire system.

Possible impact on salary and pension

If this new structure is implemented, not only the salary structure may change, but it will also have a direct impact on the calculation of pension and allowances. There is also a possibility of increase in the total income of the employees.

Eyes fixed on the government’s decision

At present this is a proposal only for employee organizations. What stand the government and the 8th Pay Commission take on this will become clear in the coming times. Only after the final decision will it be decided whether this new pay scale system will be implemented or not.
