This statement is from an interview given after the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, when he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. At that time Pant had said, “There was only one team in which I did not want to go, and that was Punjab. I was scared because they had the highest amount and no other team could beat them. When they included Shreyas in the team, I felt a little relieved that they would not go after me.”
Actually, Rishabh Pant was the most expensive player sold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Whereas Punjab Kings had bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore. Who was the second most expensive player. While on one hand Shreyas Iyer’s performance has been excellent for Punjab Kings, on the other hand Pant has consistently proved to be a flop. In this match, LSG won the toss and decided to bowl first. After which, batting first, Punjab Kings scored 254 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Punjab, Priyansh Arya scored 93 runs in 37 balls, Cooper Conley scored 87 runs in 46 balls and Marcus Stoinis scored 29 runs.
After the early fall of Punjab’s first wicket, there was a partnership of 182 runs between Priyansh and Cooper which gave PBKS the upper hand in the match. After this, LSG team was able to score only 200 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.
