New Delhi: The US administration has given a strict warning to Iran and said that now there will be no excuses. In a recent post on the White House’s official
“We are offering a fair deal. If they don’t take it, the US will destroy every power plant and bridge in Iran. No more leniency,” the post said. This post has come amidst the ongoing tense situation with Iran. America has presented it like an ultimatum. According to reports, if Iran does not step back, the option of military action has also been kept open.
Iran’s counter warning
Iran has also responded to this warning by saying that it will give a befitting reply if any aggressive step is taken. Military activities have increased on both sides in the area. It is believed that in a sensitive area like the Middle East, a small mistake can throw the entire region into the fire of war.
Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts intensified
Seeing the talks derailing, Pakistan has intensified its efforts to hold talks between America and Iran. Pakistani officials say that contacts between both sides have been increased in the last few days. Preparations are underway to hold a new round of talks in Islamabad on 22 April.
In this connection, Pakistan Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi met American Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker. Security arrangements and coordination between the two countries were discussed in the meeting. Naqvi assured full security to the foreign guests.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s call
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke on phone with Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian. Both the leaders discussed the regional situation. Although there was no direct mention of the talks in the official statement, the contact took place at a time when Pakistan was exchanging messages between the two sides.
Security has been tightened in Islamabad. Red zone, possible talks site and surrounding roads are closed. Checkposts have been increased and hotels have been reserved for delegations.
