IPhone Satellite Upgrade: Now Apple Maps will run without internet, photos can also be shared, Apple is going to bring the feature
News India Live, Digital Desk: Have you ever thought that without SIM card and Wi-Fi you will be able to send a photo to someone or see the path? Apple is going to make this a reality. The satellite emergency service started with iPhone 14 will no longer be limited to saving lives only. According to reports, Apple is upgrading its satellite features for ‘Everyday Communications’, which will allow iPhone users to stay connected even when they are ‘off-grid’. Now photo sharing will also be possible. Currently, the iPhone’s satellite service only allows sending text messages, and that too at a very slow speed. But after the new upgrade, users will also be able to send photos through iMessage. This will be no less than a boon for those trackers and travelers who want to share their photos from remote locations or send photos of their exact position in case of an emergency. Apple Maps will work without internet. The biggest change will be seen in Apple Maps. Until now, offline maps required you to download data in advance, but with the upcoming satellite upgrade, the iPhone will be able to connect directly to satellite to get location and navigation data in real-time. This means that even if you have lost your way and there is no signal in the phone, Apple Maps will still show you the right path. What are the features of this new technology? Third Party App Support: Apple is preparing a ‘framework’ through which other apps (like WhatsApp or Instagram) will also be able to use satellite connectivity in the future. Signal will be available without turning the phone: Currently, to connect to the satellite, the phone has to be held in a certain direction towards the sky. This process will become easier and faster in the new upgrade. 5G Satellite Support: There is talk that 5G speed can also be available through satellite in the upcoming iPhone Pro models. When will this feature be available? According to experts from the tech world and recent leaks (April 2026), some of these features can be seen with iOS 19 or iOS 20. Apple has further strengthened its partnership with Globalstar and is also working on increasing its speed with the help of Amazon’s satellite network. Will this service be free? Currently Apple is providing this service free to its users, but for high-bandwidth features (like photo sharing), the company may introduce a paid subscription model in the future.
