Lakhs of women benefited from the schemes of the state government, transactions worth Rs. 42 thousand crores from BC Sakhi, increased economic participation.
Lucknow, Amrit Thoughts: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has seen vast changes in the last nine years regarding women’s empowerment. The government has implemented many schemes giving priority to women’s safety, respect, health and economic independence, from which lakhs of women have benefited.
Due to the efforts of the government, more than one crore women have been linked to self-help groups, which has strengthened their economic condition. Initiatives like ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana’, ‘Mass Marriage Scheme’, ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana’ and ‘Women Entrepreneur Product Marketing Scheme’ are playing an important role in making women self-reliant. Under the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign for daughters, more than 2.85 crore women and girls were made aware, while marriages of more than 5.20 lakh daughters were arranged through the mass marriage scheme. Whereas 26.81 lakh daughters have benefited from Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
BC Sakhi scheme has proved to be a milestone in increasing the economic participation of women. Women from rural areas have made financial transactions worth more than Rs 42,711 crore under this. Apart from this, thousands of ‘Vidyut Sakhis’ have earned income through electricity bill collection. Women’s participation has also increased in the industrial sector. Due to permission to work in night shift and safe environment, female labor participation has increased from 13 percent to 36 percent. The government has also strengthened social security. The pension of destitute women has been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500, while more than 8.42 lakh women have received assistance through helpline 181.
