West Bengal Assembly Polls 2026: As the election dates are coming closer in West Bengal, the political temperature on the ground has started rising rapidly. A similar scene was seen on Monday in Iqbalpur area of ​​Kolkata, where supporters of two major political parties came face to face.

The peaceful atmosphere suddenly turned into slogans and uproar, which created panic in the entire area. Despite police intervention, the situation worsened so much that security forces were forced to use force. BJP meeting in Iqbalpur and sudden uproar

Election activity intensified on Hussain Shah Road when a meeting was being organized under the leadership of BJP candidate Rakesh Singh. During this, a heated debate started between the BJP workers present there and the supporters of Trinamool Congress. Within no time the matter escalated from slogans to scuffles. The crowd of supporters from both sides increased and the scene outside the police station started looking like a battlefield. According to local people, the atmosphere was tense since long but on Monday it went completely out of control.

The situation became more tense when BJP candidate Rakesh Singh along with his supporters sat on a dharna outside Iqbalpur police station. He made serious allegations against the local administration of being biased and harassing opposition workers. As the crowd grew, it became difficult for the police to maintain law and order. The police eventually had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. At least one person has been reported to have suffered serious injuries in this action, who was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

Total 9 people arrested

Kolkata Police took immediate steps to restore peace in the area and detained several people from the incident site. According to the information received so far, the police have arrested a total of nine people in connection with this violence, which includes five BJP and four TMC workers.

Police have registered three separate FIRs so that legal action can be taken against the culprits. At present, heavy police force has been deployed in the entire area and top officials are keeping a close watch on the situation so that no untoward incident happens again.

Both BJP and TMC are accusing each other of intimidation and administrative collusion. As the voting day approaches, preventing election violence is becoming a major challenge for the security agencies.
