Government’s big relief amid Iran crisis There is relief news for crores of people who use LPG. The Government of India has made a big announcement regarding booking and supply of LPG cylinders. In fact, due to the increasing tension in West Asia and the Iran crisis, there were speculations that there could be a gas shortage, but the government has made it clear that there is no reason to panic. The supply of LPG is completely stable and customers will not have to face any kind of shortage or sudden inflation.
Booking deadline extended and production ramped up During a high-level meeting held in New Delhi, Sujata Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, clarified the situation. He said that domestic production of LPG has been increased so that the external crisis does not affect India’s kitchen. Along with this, the deadline for gas cylinder booking has also been extended for the convenience of consumers. This will provide more flexibility and ease to the general public in booking the cylinder as per their need.
Transparency in delivery system and ban on black marketing To make the gas distribution system secure and transparent, the government has decided to strictly implement the ‘Delivery Authentication Code’ (DAC). At present its usage has reached 92%, thereby curbing fake deliveries and black marketing. Commercial gas supply is also rapidly coming back on track and has become almost 70% normal. Apart from this, there has also been a huge surge in the demand for small 5 kg cylinders, for which the government is organizing awareness camps across the country.
Maritime security and arrival of crude oil Despite the tensions in Iran and West Asia, the government is fully alert regarding sea routes. Indian ships passing through sensitive routes like ‘Strait of Hormuz’ are completely safe. It is reported that the ship ‘Deshgarima’ is reaching India with crude oil without any hindrance. The government has ensured that there is no lapse in the safety of Indian ships and their crews even amidst war-like situations, so that fuel supply in the country is maintained.
