- Tamarind – 1 cup
- Jaggery – 3/4 cup
- Red Chilli – 1 tsp
- Cumin – 1 tsp
- Black salt – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – as per taste
- Water – as required

- First take tamarind in a bowl and add hot water to it and keep it soaked for 15-20 minutes.
- After the tamarind becomes soft, mash it well and strain its pulp.
- Add the strained tamarind pulp to a pan and heat on medium heat.
- Add jaggery to it and stir continuously, so that the jaggery dissolves completely.
- Now add red chillies, cumin seeds, black salt and common salt.
- Cook until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Turn off the heat and let the chutney cool and then store in an airtight container.
- You can serve this tamarind chutney with chaat, snacks or daily meals.
