Election Campaign Ends in West Bengal: Election campaigning came to a halt in both the states of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu on Tuesday evening, 48 hours before voting took place on April 23. In West Bengal, voting is scheduled for 152 assembly seats during the first phase, while in Tamil Nadu, voting will be held for all 234 seats. In view of this, the Election Commission has made strict security arrangements. Apart from this, social media platforms are also being closely monitored.
Before the end of the election campaign period, top leaders and candidates of both the states left no stone unturned to woo supporters. Now that the election campaign has officially ended, no political party is allowed to hold public meetings or rallies in support of its candidates.

First of all, if we talk about West Bengal, this time elections are being conducted in two phases. Voting is to be held for 152 seats in the first phase. A total of 1,478 candidates are trying their luck in this phase. At the same time, 36,077,171 voters will decide the future of these candidates. Of these voters, 17,577,210 women are expected to exercise their franchise.
Amidst the atmosphere created around the issue of reservation, the role of women in West Bengal is being considered especially important in this election. The districts of Bengal where voting is to be held during the first phase include eight districts of North Bengal, three districts of South Bengal and 5 districts of Jangalmahal region.

Specifically, these include 22 seats of Murshidabad, 9 of Cooch Behar, 7 of Jalpaiguri, 5 of Alipurduar, 1 of Kalimpong, 5 of Darjeeling, 9 of North Dinajpur, 6 of South Dinajpur, 12 of Malda, 11 of Birbhum, 9 of West Bardhaman, 16 of East Medinipur, 16 of West Medinipur. 15 seats include 4 in Jhargram, 9 in Purulia and 12 in Bankura.
Election: tamilnadu assembly elections
Now talking about Tamil Nadu elections, elections for all the seats in the state are to be conducted in a single phase. Voting for all 234 seats will be held on April 23. This time 4,023 candidates are in the electoral fray in Tamil Nadu. A total of 57.3 million voters will cast their votes to decide the future of these candidates.
In this election, all eyes are on TVK. The party is led by actor-turned-politician Vijay. Since this party is garnering huge public support in many constituencies, its role in the elections can prove to be very important.
